I have been using the Philips HL1643/04 600-Watt Simply Silent Vertical Mixer Grinder with 3 Jars for ten years now. The base machine is solid like a rock. I was so afraid that I may not get the same model when we were moving away from the country, that I bought another spare one to use in the event it got spoilt! But its still going strong and I’m still using it! The only things that Ive needed to replace have been the jars (liquidiser) with the dome after 5 years. I use it at least 4 times a week and the reason to replace the first jar was because i dropped and broke the dome. The only negative was that I could not source the replacement parts easily. Anyway, I used the jar from my perfectly preserved second machine.
The reason to buy the third machine was again, the same – replacement jars are hard to get and this particular jar is just brilliant for grinding masalas, chutneys etc. It’s non messy, easy to open and clean because of the clips on the dome. I can’t do without it. If I could buy the liquidiser jar on its own, I would have been the happiest Philips customer.
Also the base takes little or no space on my kitchen counter, I love that the cord wraps up neatly under the base and it cleaning is a breeze. It’s my best friend in my kitchen.

Received a broken product in first go. Amazon did replace it with another one.

It does its job nicely, though it is not that silent as advertised and little expensive for 700W category compared to other brands like Butterfly and Morphy Richards etc. As it comes with only 3 jars.

The jar size is at least 250ml bigger than other similar products. You can grind a little extra in one go.

The mid sized Jar doesn’t come with rubber gasket around the cover. You need to be cautious while using it, especially with wet items.

Easy to clean and maintain. Occupies less space. It would be great deal if you get it with discount.

The product has advantages like relatively less noise, easy to clean, blender jar lid is leak proof etc. However, the main problem with this product is a serious design fault in the way the blade of all jars are attached. With slightly heavy load ( even 3/4 th full jars) the thread by which the blades are attached gets cut and then the blades don’t rotate when the motor rotates. Initially it used to happen every few days with me; I then started reducing the load ( means it would take more time to do the work with more batches of smaller loads) as well as loading after cutting the items to smaller pieces ( again more work). By this way I could use the mixie without weekly visits to the service centre; the visit to the service centre has now reduced to once in few weeks. However I have now decided to buy another mixie due to this tedious issue. I had the same product earlier, that had the same problem, due to which we had bought a Panasonic mixie. However, that was too noisy and difficult to clean. I am now planning to buy Sujatha dynamix, the mixie that I find being used in juice shops.

Ordered it on 21st April 2015 and paid for next day delivery. The parcel arrived in good condition.

Although my mom was already using this mixer for several years, I decided to browse though other options before deciding to buy this. I visited a local shop and compared other options in this price range (Rs3000- Rs3500) and found this to be a superior product as compared to others.

    Some of the pros are
-Sturdy design/construction , good plastic, sharp blades and given my moms experience it will last for quite sometime
-the small chutney jar even minces small quantities very well
-comes with 4 blades all detachable and easy to clean ( something that’s not mentioned on this site)
-powerful motor that grinds dry spices very well
-compact motor base takes less storage space
-it is a grinder so will make some noise . some of the other reviewers have complained that it makes too much of a noise. This is a non issue for me.

It works cool but spare parts are not easily available in the market. I had the same piece in the past but I donated it to someone. I brought another piece because the Inalsa food processor got burnt. My advice is don’t buy Inalsa food processor. The quality of jars are very low, also spare parts are not easily available and are very expensive. Think about it! One jar of Inalsa costs Rs. 3500/- and others are only 250 to 300. One bush of Inalsa cost 1350 and others 40 – 80.
Shop on Amazon and avail of good service.

Phillips used to be synonymous with quality – what happened to it? The overall finish of this product makes it look like it was made by some local electrical company. More specifically, I had issue with the quality of all three jars.
    – The handles are flimsy and made of cheap plastic
    – the rubber gaskets and the plastic lids are uneven and not well made
    – the plastic mounts at the bottom are thin and don’t look sturdy
    – the steel used is thinner than normal and they hadn’t even bothered to clean it of stains and smudges before packing

All this made me suspect that quality control for this product wasn’t up to the mark and it might give me problems in the future.

The mixer body was sturdy enough. It is definitely not silent when running and I couldn’t tell whether it was less loud than my old mixie. But it’s not loud either.

I returned the product unused and purchased a Phillips HL7555 instead, after inspecting it in a store. This other model has far better build quality (don’t know about performance and life though, since I just bought it).
