Needed this urgently for 2 months and expecting an amazon renewed product to be like new, this disappointed me.

Plastic body at the bottom was broken, but the product works, Still I paid dearly for this so rating it very poor.

There are three things important for me in choosing an induction cooktop: (1) Fine temperature control, (2) ease of operation, and (3) Longevity of the device. The Philips HD4938 definitely gives (1) and (2), and (3) remains to be seen. With regard to (1), there are ten power (and temp) levels from 120 W to 2100 W, including 120, 300, 500, 800 and 1000, which are super useful for everyday use like simmering and light boil. Short of continuous power control, this range of fine control is hard to find in other cooktops. The upper power levels are also useful for quick boiling of water. With regard to (2), you can directly select the cooking function after power on, rather than cycling through cooking modes sequentially (with random preset temps) as is common in other models in the market. In fact, I haven’t seen any other brand offering direct selection. This is a big feature since you can directly jump to manual mode and select a low temp. The “milk/water” mode is particularly nice, as it offers three levels of control. It starts with at simmer (low power), at second press goes to boil (moderate temp), and at third press goes to high temp. The timer is on by default for all modes at a high value and can be adjusted downwards as needed. We seldom use the timer, and find the display showing only the timer somewhat bad design. It could be showing the power level and timer only when selected. Besides this, the device looks great, and is easy to clean because of all-glass surface. This model is pricey, but if you can get it at any discount, you should go for it. There aren’t many models in the market with these features.
