Eminently suited for Indian cooking. Vinod is a well regarded brand in India and the product certainly looks and feels like it is of good quality. If it is anything like the Vinod pressure cooker I bought many, many years ago (and still use) this may well be a keeper.

It is a pre-seasoned kadai, so I started using it immediately. For the first time in my life, I had to throw away cooked food because it smelt and tasted ironish. I thought it is because its a new kadai and things might improve with time. After every use, I washed and oiled the kadai. However, the same thing happened 2 more times and I thought that I will re season it. I followed some online tutorials (soaked it in rice water for a day, cleaned with salt, boiled in tamarind water, and finally by frying onion). However, the food always turned black, although it did not effect the food taste that much. Moreover, whenever I wash the kadai the foam turns brownish.
After using the kadai for almost 30 times, the decoloration of food problem seems solved.
Pros: Sturdy and stylish
Con: 1) decoloration of food. Takes a long time to solve this issue.
2) heating and oiling the kadai is a must after every single use. Otherwise it gets rusted. The rusting proves that the material is cast iron. However, a well seasoned kadai does not rust this frequently.
Conclusion: You can get similar cast iron kadai with at cheaper price from any cast iron shops in Madurai (I found this info recently and I ordered a few tawas). This is an expensive and high maintenance kadai.

The best part of this kadhai is –
1) Size 24 cm – you can cook pulav, bryanis, gravies, vegetables – anything for 4 people very easily. Taste is also delicious.
2) Lid- It has good insulation and a small hole for evaporation – helps in cooking food fast
3) Food remains warm for a long time. Though after cooking, better to transfer to steel/glass vessels to avoid little dark color (iron)
4) Cleaning and seasoning is not at all difficult – rinse with mild soap or only water, wipe with a kitchen napkin, heat it on the gas and once completely dry, apply a thin layer of oil (use silicon brush), heat little and let it cool. Store in a dry place.
5) Canvas sleeves on the handle – easy to lift the heated pot – very useful. Not many cast ironware provide this including Lodge.
Overall an excellent pot to have in the kitchen, value for money. Just go for it !

Does not deserve even a single star. After the first wash, it started rusting. It smells bad. It’s just a waste of money as you will not be able to cook in it.

I have been using it more than a 7 month now, its super easy to clean. I was worried whether would be able to maintain it but its worth it for healthy lifestyle.
I will be soon replacing all the non stick with iron one
The only thing to keep in mind is too careful while using it as it will be very hot while cooking
