not very impressive. May be the gas kit is leaky.

Purchased this stainless steel pressure cooker from Prestige to replace an older Aluminium Prestige 6Litre Pressure Cooker.
This new one is absolutely fantastic with a nice heavy bottom and excellent quality stainless steel. We have used this cooker 5 times, making Indian daals, chinese soups, and oxtail stews and the dishes were perfect. Overall a great product at a very decent price.
A good pressure cooker is a must have item in my home along with a cast iron skillet, wok, and clay nabe pots.

This pressure cooker does the job and seems to be of high quality and good design. I wish to address some of the 1-star reviews claiming a leaking gasket seal. The gasket is designed to blow out before the cooker becomes a bomb, so care be used to ensure that the gasket is installed correctly, that it is clean, and that the pressure cooker is used correctly. The manual states to “place the Cooker on high heat” initially to start the cooking process. I feel this could be an issue when using certain stove tops that can heat extremely rapidly and pressure builds so rapidly that the gasket blow-by occurs. My recommendation ( if your stove heat very fast) is to start at medium heat to prevent such a rapid buildup of pressure that steam is blown out of the seal. Watch the pot closely and when the “pressure indicator” pops up IMMEDIATELY reduce the heat (to low or medium-low…practice will determine what setting is best). If it “weight valve” doesn’t release steam within a couple of minutes, increase the heat slightly. The correct heat setting is obtained when the “weight valve” releases steam every three to five minutes or so.

This cooker is smaller than what the description claims. There’s a higher defect in the locking mechanism. The lid doesn’t shut properly and takes multiple tries to get it to close. Takes too much patience and effort.
I’d recommend you buy a cooker from your local shop in person after trying and understanding the look and feel of it.

Quality construction and has well exceeded my expectations for the price I paid. Capacity for a pot roast for 4 with veggies. Tolerates the dishwasher well but BE SURE to remove the rubber seal first.

This pot had been a real rock that I use at least twice a week to make stock, bean dishes, soups and stews. Makes the best beef stew you ever ate from some crummy 2 dollar meat in 45 mins. Very versatile and heats evenly so you can brown in it easily before you button it up to create additional flavors. Still on my original gasket and pressure valve because I clean them like a freak as soon as I open it up then lubricate with a little whatever handy cooking oil. The only flaw in it’s design are the handles loosen about once a year or so but it takes seconds to torque them back nice and tight which prevents the handles from breaking.
If I was going to be stuck on a deserted island and could only take one pot or pan to cook with this would be the one I took.

Packaging- Sturdy & Neat
Daily usage – Works as expected until this moment. Pressure indicating valve exhibits the current pressure status of the cooker.

The shape of the pressure cooker is such that it can be used as a cooking pan as well as a pressure cooker. All the disadvantages of a flat lid has been addressed in this model.

I just received the pressure cooker and the first thing that I did was examine the quality and I was not disappointed. Stainless Steel and made in India. The workmanship is excellent and this is a extremely well designed and easy to use. The first time I’ve used it and the silver side roast turned out fantastic. Melt in the mouth butter soft. By the way also adding onion, carrots and bite size red potato. Follow the instructions and you’ll be able to produce a hearty meal. Made a gravy with the liquid juices. Looking forward to the next adventure with this excellent pressure cooker. Highly recommended.

Prestige cookers are my favorites. The reason behind the three star review is the hard to remove sticker on the cooker. Not sure why the seller has to stick something like that even after the company’s name is engraved on it. most annoying…

It is a wonderful addition to my aluminium free kitchen. One star deducted as the cooker gets a little discoloured on the bottom upon use.
Volume – It can be used too cook dal for 3-4 people depending on their consumptions obv.
I bought this mainly as I am in the process of replacing my aluminium cookers with steel ones. The cooker is heavy bottom (due to the induction base), easy to clean and easy to use. It seems durable. I have been using it daily for a month now and it is holding up well.
The one negative is that even on the first use, the inside bottom of the cooker got a rainbow coloured shine. Somedays it gets a white powdery looking effect. I am not exactly sure which food item is doing that but I mostly use it to cook dal and boil vegetables. But this DOES NOT affect the taste of the food or the performance of the cooker in any way. Through research I also found that most steel pots and pans get this type of shine.
TIP: To remove the rainbow coloured shine and the white powdery look you can pour a little vinegar in some water and let it heat up in the cooker (without the lid). When the water gets a little warm, turn off the gas and just let it sit for about 5-10 minutes (no need to cover the cooker). It regains the shine 🙂 The rainbow shine or the white powdery look will return on use so I just use this trick it once in a while for my peace of mind 😉
