Philips Avent Combined Steamer and Blender, Multicolor

I was a bit hesitant to purchase this because of the Price. I was worried if it worked as expected with a price tag of 6+K.

Well my fears did not come true . This product is worth every penny. Now any one in house can prepare food for my baby.
All you have to do is clean the veggies/fruits/meat in 2-3 cm sizes . Drop them in the bowl .. Steam them based on the time provided in the booklet for each recipie ( at max 20 min.. You can play with your baby till that time.) and once done reverse the bowl and Blend it. Voila the dish is ready to be served..

Pros’

Cons.
1. No buzzer feature when steaming is over. You have switch it off.
2. Bit expensive but worth the money

Excellent product. It does its job neat and clean. We are using this product for about 2 months and making baby food puree is so simple and awesome with this magic product. So far our experience is superb and we are highly satisfied. For those who are actually thinking whether to get this product or not I want to say go for it and you will never regret. It steams food perfectly and the amount of water which is mentioned in the booklet is perfect too and apart from steaming it blends foods nice and smooth. Overall I highly recommend this product to others.

I will definitely recommend this product to any mom who want to feed their babies with healthy food. I bought this to introduce solids to my 6 month baby. This helps to give our babies a rich variety of fruits and veggies and makes us more innovative in choosing healthy meal planner. If we prepare baby food in the regular way with our cooker and mixer grinder, most of the time we end using same veggies, repeated menu and we grind more quantity to get smooth textures. But this super machine makes our job lot easier.
1) First, you can steam and cook in the same machine. I also steam oats, poha and rice flakes along with other ingredients. Makes job easier and stress free.
2) Second, we can grind very less quantity – just needed for one meal for the baby . This thus enables us to prepare fresh meal every time and helps us include different menu in a day. For Example : pear Apple oats steamed puree for morning, dhal carrot rice steamed puree for afternoon, cucumber steamed puree in evening and banana raagi puree in early night.
3) Very easy to assemble and wash. Even elders at home will adapt to this quickly.
4) Easy to carry. Very less in weight. I am not buying readymade cereals or baby food. If I go out, I prepare and take this in glass container kept in ice cooler box and if on vacation I carry this while traveling too. You just need the ingredients and make the meal for the baby even in hotel.

5) Not just baby food, we can use it for blending juices and other smoothies.
I would say, it’s upto us on how effective we make use of this machine.

I can’t begin to express how much I love this machine. It has made weaning so easy. You just choose the food you want to prepare, chop it up, add water and turn it on. Then when it’s done steaming (the machine turns itself off which is handy if you’ve become distracted by your little bundle of joy), you flip the container over, and puree away. Contrary to the description it does NOT have 3 pureeing speeds, but if you want lumpier food you just puree for less time.

All the parts (except the motor, obviously) can be washed in the dishwasher, but there’s only a few parts to clean so I find it easy to do by hand.

It comes with a handy recipe book which has some nice ideas. The instruction manual also has a table of suggested steaming times for a range of fruit/vegetables/proteins, which takes the guesswork out. You then just add the right amount of water: e.g. 100ml for 10 mins, 150ml for 15 mins and so on. You don’t have to do just one type of food at a time, for example, there’s a recipe for baby bolognaise where you put the meat and veg in all at once, steam, then puree.

As others have said, the machine is not huge, but I find it sufficient. To give you an example, I fill it to the “max” line with apples, and find that gives me about 14 x 30ml ice cubes worth. I don’t have a huge freezer so that’s more than enough. I started using the machine a couple of weeks before we started weaning so by the time my baby was ready I already had a freezer drawer full of cubes of different fruit and veg, which I now mix and match each day to give her a varied diet (I use freezer bags to store cubes to avoid having to buy loads of ice cube trays and save space).

You can use the machine for fruit, veg, fish and meat. You can also use it as a steamer only, or to puree only, which makes it very versatile.

It really makes the whole steaming/pureeing process so simple: no hassling with pans and separate blenders. Also steaming is much healthier than boiling, apparently, because more nutrients in the food are preserved. I really like the fact that I know all my baby’s food is homemade with no additives and (for the most part) organic.

My only slight criticism is that the puree function is quite loud. That means it’s hard to use when the baby is asleep, and if I use it when she’s in the room it terrifies her and she starts crying so I can’t do that either. I work around this by popping her in another room with a toy for the 30 seconds or so it takes to puree.

After watching many other mums I know struggle with weaning, I’m so glad I have this machine. I recommend it to others as a way of simplifying the whole process. And of course you can use it after weaning is done – I’ve already used it to make creamed spinach for the adults in the family!

Love product. Steams baby’s food perfectly & blade pures it so he loves every mouthfull .
