Haier 531 L Inverter Frost-Free Side-by-Side Refrigerator (HRB-550KG, Black,Convertible)

Purchased during Diwali Great Indian Festival Sale on a whopping discount and cash backs,

Packaging was excellent and NO scratch or damage was found on the product,

It’s a complete 100% fridge after convert, as lower part can be converted from freezer to fridge by pressing “convertible” button, They should have provided this option for lower right side compartment, as in India we store few freezer items, for which lower left side is more than enough, as it contains 2 drawers and 1 open space (where ice tray can be placed),

It’s more useful to people who uses freezer as optional, as these fridge can be converted into 100% fridge, with this ample space can be created.

Pros:
Cost effective product, compare to other brands in side by side refrigerator.
Excellent in design and performance (as of now)
Easy to operate, as minimum options available which are useful in daily life
Huge space in upper body (fridge), which can be sufficient for 4 to 6 people living home
Huge space in lower body (freezer, fridge after convert).

Cons:
They should have given convert option for lower right side compartment, but they provided convert option for both (lower left and right compartments),
No light in freezer compartment.

Very happy with this fridge. Bought it on exchange so was excellent value too. Good size for people who like cooking and storage or for larger units of 4 people. Ergonomic to have the freezer set up as drawers at the bottom. The glossy door does retain fingerprints but this is not a big deal. It runs quietly and we’re very happy with the performance. Will know about the power consumption after some time but that was also a consideration. Installation was quite prompt.

Before I write down a review after using it for 2 weeks, I would highlight some issues mainly related to delivery.

I had raised a exchange with my old refrigerator and during delivery the dealer was asking for additional money to take the old refrigerator. It is all a scam, there is no mention of any additional money upfront when placing a order. My old refrigerator was in excellent working condition and with no rusting or crack meeting exchange requirements. Hence I decided to not give it away and preferred to give it to someone in more need.

The second issue was installation, since our old refrigerator was switched off, ideally we wanted the new to be installed quickly. But it took 3 days (and a lot of spoiled food till then) for technicians to visit and install. The service request was raised but it went on getting cancelled for no reason. And i am talking about Bangalore urban area where you would expect it to be better.

Finally once installed now comes all pros, which I am listing down below.

– very spacious and it is really good for someone who does lots of food prep and storage. The 3 racks are very wide and tall and can easily store lots of vessels.

– the freezer is huge with 2 shelves and 4 drawers and for me personally a huge bonus as I prep and freeze lot of stuff. You can easily keep a drawer exclusively for non veg and it will not contaminate other items. In a single drawer i can keep atleast 10 packages of frozen peas (1kg) pack and it is very spacious. The freezer can also be converted to fridge if required.

– the glass panel is super nice and very elegant looking though prone to finger prints.

– the led light is very bright and it really elevates your experience when opening the fridge.

– packaging was really good and no damage during delivering and it is made in Thailand. The roller wheels really makes it very convenient to move this heavy fridge around.

– cooling is very uniform and I didn’t find any blind spots as of now. It is better to store things like condiments on top shelf as top shelf I think is the warmest.

Overall excellent refrigerator, i am especially enjoying how spacious it is and unlike my old fridge don’t have to hunt for things at the back of the refrigerator. Everything will be clearly visible if organised well.

This is quite reasonable and the overall size is also most compact when compared to other refrigerators in this category. This was also one of the deciding factor for me as i had limited space.

Couple of minor things which I believe could have been improved in the design

– because there is no partition in the fridge, the glass panel is super wide and there is no support in the middle. I believe this is not a problem but i still tend to store light items on the middle rack. Ideally there should have been a support. The bottom rack is the best and this is where all my heavy duty vessels are stored.

– the ice tray is poorly designed and adding water to ice tray is a nightmare, you can’t see the water level at all and it will fall into the collecting tray. Best is to get a separate ice tray and the huge freezer can be used to store them.

 I bought it for mainly convertible .. it works good. I had seen many negative comments.. I’m wondering why many negative reviews.. I’m using it 11 months still now..we need to put good stabilizer for the volts output. Good brand. And delivery persons helped lot to get it inside. Five star for the delivery too. Thankyou Haier.
